Summer styling LookBook

This Summer has been one of my favourite Summers for as long as I can remember!  For once, we haven't just had a few heatwaves, we've actually had a proper Summer and it is due to continue well into August.  This means I have been able to properly wear all of my Summer outfits and it has been so good!  My theme this year really has been wearing nightwear as outerwear.  I have been absolutely loving this trend and I have really gone for it.  It really has been a whimsical summer and we have seen everyone going mad for the floaty Free People and Doen vibes, which brands like H&M and others have actually duped really well.  Due to the weather being so good, we have managed to do so many day trips around the UK and go to places where I can dress up and wear all my lovely outfits, which has been amazing,  The Summer in the City vibes have been spot on!!  As usual, I have used 8 of my favourite looks so far to show you and talk through.  I won't be putting any links, but I can advise where you can purchase if it's something I bought this year or I have seen recently.  If you particularly want to ask me where something is from, please leave a comment, otherwise this post is meant to inspire you to recreate the looks with items you already have, before purchasing new pieces.

LOOK ONE

This was at the very start of the Summer when the weather started to warm up and we decided to have a weekend in the Cotswolds.  I love the Cotswolds for the perfect British vibes and it's absolutely a place to wear a pretty dress.  This floaty brown dress was from H&M a few years ago and the floaty whimsical vibe of it keeps me on theme for this year.  Paired with some strappy sandals from Zara, a vintage black belt and a vintage Gucci shoulder bag, this felt very effortlessly chic for me.

LOOK TWO

I couldn't wait to wear this outfit in London, I had had it planned for months, waiting for the perfect moment!  I had tried the lace shorts at the tail end of last year, just as the trend was coming in and I just couldn't find the right pair.  The only ones I liked were £300 from Doen.  Since last year, brands have had the time to come up with their own more affordable options and I was able to get this pair from Topshop!!  I replicated this look from a picture I saw on Pinterest and I was so pleased with it.  I felt very city chic.

LOOK THREE

This look was just a causal shopping day with my sister in Cardiff city centre, but I felt great and very Carrie Bradshaw!!  I've worn a white tank top, which I haven't actually tucked in, but left sitting on top of the skirt as it finishes at a nice point. This skirt was from H&M and the tank top has a built in bra, which was from M&S.  It's also very unusual of my to wear Pink!!

LOOK FOUR

This is from my London weekend last weekend and this dress I actually made.  I had seen so many dresses like this that Doen is selling and I thought to myself, I can make that!! I sourced the vintage night dress from Vinted and I hemmed it.  I felt amazing in it and I got so many compliments and people asking where it was from.  So on the back of this, I would like to say that I am sourcing vintage night dresses and making these now.  If you like this then please let me know and I can send you a link to my vinted or Instagram where I am selling some.

LOOK FIVE

This is a very simple, casual look, yet elevated.  I love this super simple white cami midi dress, with the lace at the top.  The super simple shape of this means you can go to town with the styling.  I've gone for a gold and silver necklace layering situation, with a knit round my waist and matching rattan shoes and bag combo.  I have seen people doing this with a red cardigan and wearing a cap also for a more sporty look.

LOOK SIX

Another one of my London looks that I wore to Little Venice by the canals on a hugely hot heatwave day and I got so many compliments on this dress.  The shape and floaties to this is just incredible and I love the lace details.  And guess what?  It's only Zara!!  I've styled it with lots of gold accessories, to warm the tones up a little bit against my skin tone.

LOOK SEVEN

This was the second London look I wore last weekend and I completely emulated a Doen skirt and top combo I had seen on their website.  Can you tell I'm completely obsessed with this vibe??  I love how whimsical and floaty this is, but that it's not a dress!  Dresses aren't the only way to feel girly and playful and I've experienced that this year.  These are the same Topshop shorts from Look one and this floaty top was actually River Island.  I'm pretty sure I have worn this YSL bag combo and these rattan mesh flats with 90% of my looks this year, they have really gone with everything.

LOOK EIGHT

My final look for this LookBook is a look that I wore to have a picnic in the park with my Sister on Pride weekend in Cardiff.  I think it's giving princess Jasmine and I am here for it.  I absolutely love a bubble trouser, but I'm aware that they are marmite.  They just offer so much shape to an outfit and I am all about shape and texture rather than print.  They are also so comfortable.  I actually saw a lady in Daylesford farm shop in May wearing an incredible outfit and she looked so stylish and this was me trying to recreate it.
